What we collect
We keep this to what each feature needs.
- Newsletter. Your email address and the date you signed up.
- Contact form. Your name, email address and the message you write.
- Comments. Your name, email address and comment text. The email address is not shown publicly.
- Technical data. Basic server logs such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, kept to run and protect the site.
We do not ask for payment details, government ID numbers or other sensitive personal information on this site.
Why we use it and on what basis
- To send the newsletter you asked for. Basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To reply to your message. Basis: you contacted us and expect an answer.
- To publish and moderate comments, and to block spam. Basis: our legitimate interest in running a safe site.

What stays in your browser
Some features save settings on your own device using local storage: your light or dark theme choice, and your progress in a Toolkit checklist. This data is not sent to us and you can clear it in your browser settings.
Ads and cookies
The site shows ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technology to show these ads and to measure them. The ads can be based on your earlier visits to this site and to other sites.
To turn off personalised ads, use Google’s ad settings. To read how Google uses this data, see how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
The site does not use Google Analytics or other visitor tracking of its own. Cloudflare, which protects the site, can set a short-lived security cookie to tell people from automated traffic.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data. We use the service providers below to run the site. Some of them process data outside the Philippines.
- OVHcloud hosts the site on a server in Germany.
- Cloudflare (United States) delivers the pages through its global network and blocks attacks.
- Google (United States) serves the ads. See Ads and cookies.
- Akismet, from Automattic (United States), checks comments for spam.
- Wordfence, from Defiant (United States), checks visitor IP addresses against a list of known attacks.
Each provider may use the data only to give its service, or as its own privacy policy describes.
How long we keep it
- Newsletter address: until you unsubscribe, then removed from the active list.
- Contact messages: the site does not store them. They arrive as email, and we keep them only as long as we need them to reply and follow up.
- Comments: for as long as the post is published, unless you ask us to remove yours.
- Server and security logs: for a limited time, to fix problems and stop attacks, then deleted.
Your rights
Under the Data Privacy Act you may ask to be informed about how your data is used, to access it, to correct it, to object to certain uses, to have it blocked or removed in the cases the law allows, to receive a copy in a common format where applicable, and to claim damages if you are harmed by unlawful use. Some rights have limits set out in the law.
To use any of these, contact us and say which right you want to use. We may need to confirm that the request comes from you.
Complaints
If you think your data has been mishandled, please tell us first so we can fix it. You may also complain to the National Privacy Commission, the agency that enforces the Act. Its website is privacy.gov.ph.
Children
This site is written for adults who run or plan to run a business. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
