August 7-9, 2003: ASEAN+3 Information Technology & Telecommunications Industry Business Forum

DigitalFilipino.com is hosting the 2nd Meeting of the ASEAN+3 Information Technology & Telecommunications Industry Business Forum (ITBF) on 7-9 August 2003 at the Traders Hotel, Manila, Philippines. This year’s theme is “Regional Cooperation for Bridging the Digital Divide Among Private Sectors of ASEAN+3”.
About ASEAN+3
The ASEAN+3 ITBF is an international IT industry-specific forum designed to be the venue for the discussion and promotion of IT business issues, views, and opportunities for the ASEAN, Japan, China and Korea. The ITBF is envisioned to gather all private ICT sector representatives from the ASEAN+3 region, with the aim of fostering cooperation and joint ventures.
Objectives
To be an IT industry-specific forum for IT business people of the ASEAN+3 countries within which they discuss and promote IT business cooperation among themselves
To foster business initiatives and links, enhance market access, and increase trade & investment opportunities and industrial cooperation among ASEAN+3 countries.
To encourage and assist its member companies and organizations in their exchange of IT industry-specific information on business trends, market environment and various industrial activities
Sub-Sectors
Interested parties can join any of the following sub-sectors:
1. General Telecom Services Sub-sector is divided into Facilities-based Telecom Services, Special Telecom Services (Resale Services), Value Added Communication Services and Broadcasting Services.
2. Hardware Sub-sector is divided into Wired Telecom Equipment, Wireless Telecom Equipment, Information System, Broadcasting Equipment and Electronic Components.
3. Software and Computer Related Services Sub-sector includes System S/W, Development Tool S/W, Application S/W, Other Package S/W, SI (System Integration) Services, System Services for Unit, Multimedia Contents Development Services, Databases Production Services and Information Retrieval Services.
4. E-business Sub-sector is divided into Commercial Transaction, Financial Services, Educational & Cultural Services and Information Services.
2nd Meeting Agenda
DigitalFilipino.com is currently inviting four representatives from each country member of ASEAN+3 to deliver a 20-minute presentation in a topic listed under four major sectors: General Telecom Services Sector, Hardware Sector, Software/E-Services Sector, E-Business Sector.
Presentation proposals should have a call for regional cooperation that the speaker and his/her organization is leading. All presentation proposals should be e-mailed on or before May 6, 2003.
